How To Overcome Your Fears

Genesis 3:10,I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid.”

Adam and Eve is a good example to show that everybody experience some kind of fear in their lives. Fear is a normal feeling to feel. We all will experience some type of fear in our lives. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Fear attacks our minds. Fear will exaggerate itself in our mind, making it appear to be so big and scary to overcome that it drains our energy. You can waste so much energy thinking about solution to a problem that never exists in our lives. The emotion you feed will dominate your life. So if all you’re feeding is fear, you will have a fearful life.

Fear keeps us from discovering our potential. A person operating in fear, will never know what they’re made of, because they are allowing that thing they fear to control them. Fear will keep you from the unknown. It will always keep us playing it safe, never stepping out of your comfort zone. Fear weakens us, but when we act in faith it gives us strength. Fear will cause sickness to come upon us but faith heals all sickness.

 

Three ways on how you can begin to handle fear in your life.

  1. Recognize that fear do exist in your life. The way how you recognize fear in your life is by making a list of the things that you fear. After you made your list then start monitoring your emotions. What is it that makes your heart start to beat fast? What exactly are you nervous about? These are all signs of fear going on inside of you. So watch your emotions to know that fear do exist in your life.
  2. Figure out exactly why you fear whatever it is that you are afraid of. For example, I use to be afraid of speaking in front of people. I would get very nervous and start sweating all over the place. I later figure out that I was afraid of speaking because I tend to stutter when I’m getting excited and want to get my point across. By me figuring out exactly why I was afraid of speaking allow me to better handle that situation, by not allowing myself to get excited but to take my time with what I’m saying and I won’t stutter. Whatever you are afraid of, sit down and figure out exactly why you fear this thing.
  3. Use your fear to develop yourself to the next level. If you fear speaking, then instead of choosing to not speak at all, start speaking to your family and then work your way up toward a bigger crowd. The key here is to take small steps at a time to develop yourself to the place where you want to be.

Do not allow fear to control your life. You take control of fear by looking fear in the eyes and doing it afraid.
