Let’s talk about feeling abandon by your father.
For many years I walked around feeling abandon by my father. Even though I have his phone number, can call him up any time that I liked and even go by his house, I still had some abandonment issues residing within me.
You may feel the same way. You may know your father and have some type of relationship with him but yet you still feel this void and emptiness inside and find yourself questioning why he don’t love you?
In this post, I want to share with you what has helped me move past my own daddy issues with the hopes that it will help you too.
One day as I was talking to God all up in my feelings, I was venting to God about my father and how he seem to never be there for me when I need him to. I was mad, hurt and angry inside and felt like it wasn’t right or fair to be treated this way by my father. I told God I keep trying to accept him for who he is but I just didn’t understand why a father wouldn’t want a relationship with his daughter.
As I got silence, I felt God comforting me and I sensed in my spirit that God wanted me to look to Him, not man as my father and so I did. As I continue to look to the Lord for guidance and answers regarding my father, the revelation came to me that my father was being the best father he knew how to be to me and for that I am grateful.
One thing that will help give you closure concerning your father is looking at his relationship growing up with his own parents. Did he know his father? Was his father in his life as a child? Taking a good look at your father relationship with his own father will help to give you insight into the type of relationship he is choosing to have with you. He can’t give you what he never received as a child from his own father.
Pray and ask God to give you eyes to see your father the same way He sees him with compassion and love.
Mediate on the scripture below:
Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me. ~Psalm 27:10
